The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!" 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
