The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
