Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
