The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
