The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 “What! Among all the creatures, you commit the immoral acts with men?” 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, “I am disgusted with your works.” 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
