The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 Why do you go for males unlike all other creatures 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
