[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
