[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
