The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
