The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
