[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said, "My Lord knows all that you do." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 191
