[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
