Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
