This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
