And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
