And indeed We sent to Thamud their brother Salih (Saleh), saying: "Worship Allah (Alone and none else). Then look! They became two parties (believers and disbelievers) quarreling with each other." 45 He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?" 46 They said, "We have an ill omen about you and your followers." Salih replied, God has made your ill fortune await you. You are a people on trial." 47 In the city there were nine people who were corrupting the land and did not reform. 48 they said, 'Swear you, one to another, by God, "We will attack him and his family by night, then we will tell his protector, We were not witnesses of the destruction of his family; and assuredly we are truthful men."' 49 And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. 50 Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together. 51 Now such were their houses, - in utter ruin, - because they practised wrong-doing. Verily in this is a Sign for people of knowledge. 52 And We delivered those who believed and were wont to avoid disobeying (Allah). 53 We also sent Lot, and recall when he told his people: "Do you commit shameless acts with your eyes open? 54 What, do you approach men lustfully instead of women? No, you are a people that are ignorant.' 55 ۞ But his people's only answer was this: "Expel [Lot and] Lot's followers from your township! Verily, they are folk who make themselves out to be pure!" 56 We saved (Lot) and his family except his wife who was destined to remain behind. 57 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 58
