Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. 1 These are revelations of the Scripture that maketh plain. 2 We shall narrate to you some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh, with truth, for people who would believe. 3 Truly Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into sections, depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew, but he kept alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief. 4 And We wished to be Gracious to those who were being depressed in the land, to make them leaders (in Faith) and make them heirs, 5 And We should establish them in the earth, and We should let Fir'awn and Haman and their hosts see from them that which they dreaded. 6 And We inspired the mother of Moses, saying: Suckle him and, when thou fearest for him, then cast him into the river and fear not nor grieve. Lo! We shall bring him back unto thee and shall make him (one) of Our messengers. 7 Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners. 8 Now the wife of Pharaoh said: "A joy to the eye [could this child be] for me and thee! Slay him not: he may well be of use to us, or we may adopt him as a son!" And they had no presentiment [of what he was to become]. 9 And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers. 10 and she said to his sister, 'Follow him,' and she perceived him from afar, even while they were not aware. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden suckle-nurses for him, so she said, “Shall I show you a household that will nurse this child of yours, and they are his well-wishers?” 12 So, We restored him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not sorrow, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true.
