The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do men fancy that they will be left just upon their declaring, “We believe”, and they will not be tested? 2 Lo! We tested those who were before you. Thus Allah knoweth those who are sincere, and knoweth those who feign. 3 Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. 6 We shall expiate the sins of the righteously striving believers and shall reward them better than their deeds. 7 We have advised the human being, "Be kind to your parents. Do not obey them if they force you to consider equal to Me things which you do not know are such." You will all return (to Me) and I shall show all that you have done. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 Some men there are who say, 'We believe in God,' but when such a man is hurt in God's cause, he makes the persecution of men as it were God's chastisement; then if help comes from thy Lord, he will say 'We were with you.' What, does not God know very well what is in the breasts of all beings? 10 Most certainly God will mark out those who believe and mark out those who are hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers. "Follow our way. We shall take the responsibility for your sins." They cannot take responsibility for any of the sins. They are only liars. 12 And verily, they shall bear their own loads, and other loads besides their own, and verily, they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about that which they used to fabricate. 13
