The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They only know the palpable life of this world, and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 7 Have they never thought to themselves that Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between except with truth, and for a stated term? Yet most people disbelieve that they will ever meet their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls. 9 Then the end of those that did evil was evil, for that they cried lies to the signs of God and mocked at them. 10
