The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 With the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. 7 Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled on the earth and seen how the others before them had met their end? They were far more powerful than them, furrowed the earth and colonised it far more than they; and their apostles came to them with visible signs. It was surely not for God to wrong them, they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those that did evil was evil, for that they cried lies to the signs of God and mocked at them. 10
