The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 The Romans have been defeated. 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 With the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful. 5 [It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know. 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 Do they not ponder about their own selves? God has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a purpose and for an appointed time? Yet many deny they will ever meet with their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
