A. L. M. 1 These are Verses of the Wise Book (the Quran). 2 A guidance and mercy for the righteous 3 for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: 4 These are on (true) guidance from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. 5 But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty. 6 When Our verses are recited to him, he turns his back in pride, as though he never heard them, and in his ears was heaviness. Give glad tidings to him of a painful punishment! 7 Lo! those who believe and do good works, for them are the gardens of delight, 8 To abide therein. It is a Promise of Allah in truth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9 He hath created the heavens without supports that ye can see, and hath cast into the earth firm hills, so that it quake not with you; and He hath dispersed therein all kinds of beasts. And We send down water from the sky and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. 10 Allah has created this – therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. 11
