It is neither your riches nor your children that shall bring you close in nearness to Us, except he who believes and does good work. For those their awaits a double recompense for their deeds, they shall live in safety in their lofty chambers. 37 Those who try to challenge Our revelations will be driven into torment. 38 Say to them, "It is my Lord who increases the provision for such of His servants as He pleases, and decreases it for such of them as He pleases. Whatever you spend, He will recompense you for it. He is the best of providers." 39 The day He will gather all of them together, He will ask the angels: "Did they worship you?" 40 They shall say: Glory be to Thee! Thou art our Guardian, not they; nay! they worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them. 41 That day you will have no power to profit or harm each other; and We shall say to the sinners: "Taste the punishment of Fire which you had denied." 42 When Our illustrious revelations are recited to them, they say, "This man only wants to prevent you from worshipping what your father's had worshipped." They say "This, (the Quran), is a mere invented lie." The unbelievers have said about the truth when it came to them, "This only is plain magic." 43 We did not send to them, (the pagans), any books to study nor a Messenger to warn them, and those who lived before them had rejected the Truth. 44 Those before them had also denied, and they could not reach a tenth of (the possibilities) We had given them, and still they called My apostles liars. How great was the change that I wrought in their condition then! 45
