۞ Say to them, (O Prophet): “I give you but one counsel: stand up (for heaven's sake), singly and in pairs, and then think: what is it in your companion (to wit, Muhammad) that could be deemed as madness?” He is nothing but a warner, warning you before the coming of a grevious chastisement. 46 Say thou: whatsoever hire I might have asked of you is yours; my hire is with Allah only. And He is of everything a Witness. 47 Say thou: verily my Lord hurleth the truth: the Knower of things hidden. 48 Say: 'Truth has come. Falsehood has vanished and shall return no more.' 49 Say: "Were I to go astray, I would but go astray [due to my own self, and] to the hurt of myself; but if I am on the right path, it is but by virtue of what my Sustainer reveals unto me: for, verily, He is all-hearing, ever-near!" 50 And if you could but see, when they will be terrified with no escape (for them), and they will be seized from a near place. 51 And then they will say: we believe therein. But whence can there be the attainment of faith from a place so afar. 52 They had surely denied it before and aimed without seeing from so far away. 53 And between them and their desires a barrier shall be placed as was done in the past with people of their ilk; for they were indeed in disquieting doubt. 54
