In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ya Seen. 1 By oath of the wise Qur’an. 2 you (Prophet Muhammad) are truly among the Messengers sent 3 and that you follow the right path. 4 (The Qur’an is) Sent down by the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 5 That thou mayest warn a people whose fathers were not warned; so they are negligent. 6 Indeed, the word [of God's condemnation] is bound to come true against most of them: for they will not believe. 7 Verily We have placed on their necks shackles which are up to the chins; so that their heads are forced up. 8 We have set a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and, We have covered them so that they do not see. 9 It makes no difference to them whether you warn them or do not warn them: they will not believe. 10 You can warn only those who would follow the Reminder and fear the Gracious God, unseen. Give them the good news of forgiveness and a noble reward. 11 It is We who bring the dead to life and records the deeds of human beings and their consequences (of continual effects). We keep everything recorded in an illustrious Book. 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
