And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; 33 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 and if We will, We drown them, then none have they to cry to, neither are they delivered, 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
