And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And We make therein gardens of palms and grapevines and We make springs to flow forth in it, 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him, Who has created all the pairs of that which the earth produces, as well as of their own (human) kind (male and female), and of that which they know not. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 and then created for them other vessels like those on which they ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 They also say: 'When will this promise be, if what you say is true' 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
