There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat. 33 We have placed in it gardens of date palms and vines, and caused springs to gush [forth] from it, 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. 39 how the sun is not supposed to catch-up with the moon, nor is the night to precede the day. All of them are to float in a certain orbit; 40 That We bore their progeny in the laden ark is a sign for them; 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 When it is said to such people: “Guard yourselves against what is ahead of you and what has preceded you that mercy be shown to you” (they pay scant heed to it). 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 and so [sudden will be their end that] no testament will they be able to make, - nor to their own people will they return! 50
