Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign unto them is the night. We draw off the day therefrom, and lo! they are darkened. 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship [of Nuh (Noah)]. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 And if We list, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout for them, nor will they be saved. 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
