There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 They have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day -- and they are left in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said to them, “Beware of what is before you and what is behind you, in the hope of your gaining mercy”, they turn away! 45 and no message of their Sustainer's messages ever reaches them without their turning away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 then they will not be able to make any testament, nor will they return to their people. 50
