And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip the day out of it, thereupon they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
