۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On couches facing one another; 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
