۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
