۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
