۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
