۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Are we then not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
