1/2 Hizb 45

۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
