۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
