۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Are we then not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
