۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
