۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
