۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
