Noah called to Us; and how excellent were the Answerers! 75 And We saved him and his household from the great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 [and so We saved him and those who followed him] and then We caused the others to drown. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 he came to his Lord with a sound heart. 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 and said, "Verily, I am sick [at heart]!" 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 Then he went quietly to the (temple of the deities) and said: “What is the matter with you, why do you not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 His people came rushing towards him, 94 He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? 95 even though God created both you and that which you have made?" 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 When both surrendered (to Allah's command) and Abraham flung the son down on his forehead, 103 We called to him, "Abraham, 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 that surely was a manifest trial, 106 We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace upon Abraham." 109 Thus do We reward the doers of good 110 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Is-haq, a prophet, and of the righteous. 112 We had blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were openly unjust to themselves. 113
