And certainly We conferred a favor on Musa and Haroun. 114 And saved them and their people from great distress, 115 We helped them, and they became victorious, 116 And We gave them the divine writ that made [right and wrong] distinct, 117 And guided them to the Right Path; 118 and left them thus to be remembered among later generations: 119 Peace be unto Moses and Aaron! 120 This is how We reward the virtuous. 121 They were among Our believing worshipers. 122 Surely, Elias too was among the Messengers. 123 when he said to his people, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 "Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators, 125 Allah is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 126 But they denied him, so they surely will be haled forth (to the doom) 127 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 128 We perpetuated his praise in the later generations. 129 "Peace and salutation to such as Elias!" 130 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 131 Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing. 132 And indeed Lut is one of the Noble Messengers. 133 (Call to mind) when We delivered him and all his kinsfolk, 134 Except an old woman, who became of those who stayed behind. 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 and you pass by them in the morning 137 and by night. Will you not, then, use your reason? 138
