Al-Saaffaat 4 of 5
And assuredly We gave grace unto Musa and Harun. 114 And saved them and their people from the great distress, 115 We helped them and they were victorious. 116 And We vouchsafed unto the twain a Book luminous. 117 And We guided them on the straight path. 118 and perpetuated their praise in later generations. 119 Peace be unto Moses and Aaron! 120 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 121 They are among Our faithful devotees. 122 So also was Elias among those sent (by Us). 123 when he spoke [thus] to his people: "Will you not remain conscious of God? 124 Do you worship Ba`al and abandon the Best Creator. 125 “Allah – Who is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?” 126 But they denounced him as a liar, so they will surely be arraigned (for punishment), 127 except the chosen servants of God. 128 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; 129 Salamun (peace) be upon Ilyasin (Elias)!" 130 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 131 for he was truly one of Our believing servants! 132 And lo! Lot verily was of those sent (to warn). 133 We saved him and all his kinsmen, 134 except for an old woman who remained behind. 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 You pass by them in the morning 137 And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect? 138
