So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 They used to say: 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 That they would be helped, 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
