Al-Saaffaat 5 of 5
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 We glorify God." 166 They used to say: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
