Hizb 46
< random >
AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 He abandoned his people 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 [All forces of nature praise God and say:] "Among us, too, there is none but has a place assigned to it [by Him]; 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 we are they that give glory. 166 They say, 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
