And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 You and whatever you worship 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
