And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 We glorify God." 166 What though they would say, 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 will certainly be victorious 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
